Typical Applications
- Hot rolling mill production lines: stationary cut-off of billets, rails, structural sections (angle, channel, beam), and tube mill products at workpiece temperatures above 750 °C—an essential cut-to-length tool on modern steel rolling lines.
- Tube mill cut-off: cutting carbon steel, alloy steel, and high alloy steel tube, pipe, and section to length directly on the production line while the material is still at rolling temperature.
- Suitable materials include plain carbon steel, alloy steel, bearing steel, high-speed steel, and other grades at the appropriate working temperature.
Key Performance Advantages
- Special alloy tool steel body with good comprehensive mechanical properties—through-hardened for strength and toughness, with high hardness and wear resistance at the tooth tip for reliable performance under high peripheral speed hot cutting conditions.
- Body design options: flat ground (parallel sides, uniform thickness) or taper ground (conical, thicker at the tooth rim and tapering toward the bore) for additional side clearance when cutting large profiles.
- Tooth form options: pendulum tooth (symmetric triangle, 60° included angle, suitable for hot cutting above 750°C) and hardened pendulum tooth (tooth-tip hardened, for high alloy steel above 800°C)—tooth geometry and pitch are selected according to the material grade, section shape, and sawing machine.
- Precision-machined, straightened, and tensioned for vibration-free cutting at peripheral speeds of 90–140 m/s.
- Resharpening: the tooth form is restored by grinding; through-hardened construction allows repeated resharpening without loss of body integrity.
Application Notes
- High-pressure coolant (recommended ≥ 1.5 MPa) directed at the tooth gullets is essential to clear debris and keep teeth clean with every revolution—insufficient coolant pressure is a primary cause of premature saw blade failure.
- The workpiece must be securely clamped without axial movement during cutting; sawing parameters (feed rate, peripheral speed) should be matched to workpiece material and section.
- Peripheral speed must be maintained between 90 and 140 m/s throughout the cut; speeds below 90 m/s risk blade cracking and permanent deformation.
- Hot friction circular saw blade specifications—diameter, kerf width, bore, tooth form, tooth pitch, and body design—can be customised to rolling mill machine type and workpiece requirements. Contact us with your application details.
