Typical Applications
- Slotting the underside of prebaked carbon anodes used as consumable electrodes in aluminum electrolysis cells, on dedicated anode slotting machines from manufacturers including Tomorrow Technology, EPIQ, TC, NKM Noell, etc.
- High-volume anode processing lines in primary aluminum smelters where consistent slot geometry, minimal production stoppages, and long saw blade service life directly determine tooling cost per anode processed.
Key Performance Advantages
- Service life of 30,000–50,000 carbon anodes per circular saw blade under standard operating conditions; custom-optimized tip grades and configurations available for facilities targeting higher service life.
- Consistent slot width and depth maintained across the full service life of the circular saw blade, ensuring stable anode-cathode distance (ACD) and reproducible electrolysis cell performance throughout production.
- Fewer circular saw blade changes per production period reduces machine downtime and labor cost associated with changeovers, improving overall anode processing efficiency.
- Precision expansion slits in the saw blade body mitigate thermal distortion during continuous slotting, maintaining blade flatness and slot dimensional accuracy over long production runs.
Problems This Circular Saw Blade Helps Solve
- Inconsistent slot width or depth resulting from progressive tip wear, leading to variation in anode-cathode distance across the cell and reduced electrolysis efficiency.
- Saw blade body distortion from heat build-up during continuous slotting operations, reducing slot dimensional accuracy and causing premature saw blade rejection.
- Difficulty planning saw blade maintenance schedules when service life is short and unpredictable, disrupting production planning in high-throughput anode processing facilities.
Application Notes
- Designed for dedicated carbon anode slotting machines. Confirm spindle diameter, mounting hole and pinhole pattern, flange configuration, and required kerf width against your machine specification before ordering.
- Slot depth, spindle speed, and feed rate should follow slotting machine manufacturer guidelines and be adjusted to the specific grade and bulk density of the carbon anodes being processed.
- Maintain at least one set of spare circular saw blade per slotting machine to allow continuous production during changeovers.
- Store circular saw blades horizontally on a clean flat surface or in a dedicated blade rack. Do not stack saw blades directly on top of one another to avoid body distortion and tip damage during storage.
