Typical Applications
- Scoring the bottom laminate coating on bilaminated panels immediately before the main saw blade cuts through, preventing chipout on both the face and reverse surfaces.
- Used as the companion scoring circular saw blade on horizontal beam saws and CNC panel sizing machines (BIESSE, SCM, HOLZMA, Giben, and equivalent makes) operating at high-volume output where blade change frequency is a production constraint.
- Suitable for melamine-coated chipboard, melamine MDF, HPL, acrylic, PET, and PP panels, and other bilaminated sheet materials where a chip-free cut on both faces is required.
Key Performance Advantages
- PCD (polycrystalline diamond) tips deliver service life of 10× or more compared to tungsten carbide scoring circular saw blades, dramatically reducing tool change frequency in high-volume panel production.
- Conical tooth form allows the effective kerf width to be adjusted by lateral blade movement, matching the kerf of the main circular saw blade exactly.
- Available in both Conical and ATB tooth profiles to suit different panel types, laminate thicknesses, and machine setups.
- PCD cutting edges maintain consistent sharpness far longer than carbide, reducing variation in scoring quality across extended production runs.
- Where carbide-tipped scoring is sufficient or lower initial cost is preferred, the tungsten carbide version PWS1 is available.
Application Notes
- Set the scoring depth so the PCD tooth just penetrates the bottom laminate without cutting fully through the panel — typically 1–2 mm deeper than the laminate thickness.
- Adjust the blade laterally until the scoring kerf width matches the main blade kerf precisely; this eliminates any overhang or undercutting on the cut face.
- Ensure the scoring circular saw blade rotates in the direction required by the machine design (counter-rotation on most sliding table and beam saw configurations).
- PCD tips must be sharpened with dedicated PCD grinding equipment; do not use conventional carbide grinding wheels.
- Use together with the matched panel sizing saw blade: PW5A (sliding table saws), PW7A (horizontal beam saws), or PWDA (PCD panel sizing).
