Typical Applications
- Slotting the underside of prebaked carbon anodes used as consumable electrodes in aluminum electrolysis cells, on dedicated anode slotting machines from manufacturers including Tomorrow Technology, EPIQ, TC, NKM Noell, etc.
- High-volume anode processing lines in primary aluminum smelters where on-site tip replacement is preferred over replacing the entire circular saw blade assembly.
- Anode processing facilities located far from the blade manufacturing source, where shipping only lightweight cutter segments instead of complete large-diameter circular saw blades significantly reduces logistics cost and lead time.
Key Performance Advantages
- Service life of 30,000–70,000 carbon anodes per set of cutter segments under standard operating conditions; custom-optimized tip grades available for higher service life targets.
- When cutter segments wear out, only the lightweight segments need to be sourced from the manufacturer—not the complete large-diameter circular saw blade body—significantly reducing logistics cost and lead time.
- Consistent slot width and depth maintained across the full service life of each cutter set, ensuring stable anode-cathode distance (ACD) throughout production.
- Spare cutter segment sets are compact and easy to store on-site, enabling rapid response to tip wear.
- The circular saw blade body remains in long-term service across multiple tip replacement cycles, reducing total tooling expenditure over the system’s lifespan.
Problems This Circular Saw Blade Helps Solve
- High logistics cost and long lead time when complete large-diameter circular saw blades must be sourced for each replacement cycle, especially for facilities far from the manufacturing source.
- Inconsistent slot geometry from progressive tip wear, leading to variation in anode-cathode distance and reduced electrolysis efficiency.
- Capital tied up in stocking complete spare circular saw blades when only the cutter segment is the consumable part.
Application Notes
- Confirm spindle diameter, mounting hole and pinhole pattern, flange configuration, and required dimensions against your machine specification before ordering.
- Cutter segments are secured with bolts and replaced by unbolting worn segments and torquing new ones to the specified fastener torque.
- Inspect the circular saw blade body at each segment replacement. If distortion, cracking, or abnormal wear is found, contact us before reinstalling new segments.
- Maintain a stock of spare cutter segment sets so production can resume promptly after tip wear is detected.
- Store spare segments in clean, dry conditions and handle with care to protect the PCD cutting edges before installation.
