Typical Applications
- Aluminum billet cut-to-length before extrusion: cutting cast aluminum billets (logs) to the required charge lengths before loading into the extrusion press—head cropping to remove the butt end and cut-to-length to match the press container.
- Aluminum billet preparation in casting facilities: cutting cast aluminum logs to specified lengths for further processing or distribution.
- Applications where cut volume is moderate and tooling cost is a primary consideration over maximum cutting speed.
Key Performance Advantages
- Economical: manufactured entirely from 75Cr1 tool steel with no carbide tips—significantly lower unit cost than carbide-tipped circular saw blades, making it suitable for operations where budget is the primary constraint.
- Resharpening: the teeth can be reground multiple times to restore cutting performance, extending the usable life of each circular saw blade.
- Simple, proven design with no brazed tips to debond—straightforward to handle and maintain.
Application Notes
- Designed for use on low-speed radial arm saws and pendulum saws; not intended for high-speed carbide-saw machines.
- Coolant or water must be applied during cutting to cool the saw blade and reduce aluminum adhesion to the tooth face; a simple flood or drip coolant system is sufficient.
- Regrind the teeth promptly when dulling is noticed—cutting with worn teeth increases cutting forces and heat, shortening blade life.
- For higher production volumes or where cut quality requirements are demanding, consider upgrading to carbide-tipped circular saw blades for aluminum billet, which offer longer service life and faster cutting speeds.
